Portrush Bowling Club

Portrush travelled to Portglenone with high hopes of increasing their chances of a top 4 finish.

Rink 1.
Ian McClure took on local favourite Roy Hunter and after a shakey 1st few ends, Ian's rink took total control to dominate for the rest of the game, and lead the team with a big victory, even being 20 shots up at one stage.

Rink 2.
This was an old Magheraflet battle with Jackie Smyth playing an inspired Eamon McCann.
It started off a faily close affair, with Brian Belgley and Uel McCloy playing good solid bowls at the front end, however Eamon and Peter at the backend for Portglemone were on fine form and they started to stretch their lead.
With the Portrush back end struggling to make an impact, the Portglenone rink pulled away to lead by 18 shots with 2 ends to go. However, the Port rink rallied to lift a 4 and a 2 - and reducing the defecit to 12 to keep the overall safe. The Portrush front end had a great game, with Uel McCloy being the pick of them, and if the backend had performed then maybe the result would have been different.

Rink 3.
Th was another good win for thePortrush rink of Conor Gilmore, Robbie McClure, Robert Allen and Kevin O'Neill. They dictated from start to finish to end up winning by 16 shots, with Geoff Padget playing some good bowls for the home rink.

Rink 4.
The last game saw Gazza McCloy playing Chris Jones.
Chris was on great form, and was also ably assisted by Keith Padget. The Port rink built some great heads, with Derek Smyth ahving a particularly good game, but with Chris on top of his game, it proved the difference and the Portglenone rink claimed thier 2nd point.

This result, combined with other results means that Portrush have now qualified for the top 4 before the league split.
So we look forward to the 2nd half of the season, and hopefully we can improve our league postion over this period.
